Internet For Introverts

I read somewhere that introverts get much more social and comfortable on social media compared to real-life situations. There can be several factors responsible for it.

The Factor Of Anonymity

If you’re an introvert, you will agree to it that if you have an option that you can say and do anything without showing your identity, you’ll never leave it untried, right?
That’s the thing with platforms like Redditt. Users have anonymous names and this gives them a chance to express the unseen side of their personalities. Because no one is watching and no one knows who they are.
This is not just limited to Redditt. This phenomenon has also been seen in the case of faceless YouTube channels, and anonymous Twitter accounts.
Introverts are extra cautious of being judged by people so, if a platform provides them being anonymous or to remain unseen. This is a delight for them.

Factor Of Being Unapproachable

Introverts are unapproachable on the internet. They do not get followed usually for what they have said or expressed on the internet. This makes them comfortable enough to just be themselves and express whatever and in any way they want to. Platforms like “Clubhouse” are a very dominant example of this. One can say whatever they want to, Of course, people can get offended but that does not mean they will ever drag you to a face-to-face confrontation, that can be almost unavoidable.

Not Having A Direct Audience

On the internet, the audience is mainly passive, until and unless one is not doing the live stream. The passive audience does not have that kind of effect on the speaker or creator of the content (It includes social media posts that people put on their personal profiles) as a direct or live audience would have. It is very possible that an introvert who is very talkative on social media would have never uttered a word in front of an audience that is physically present.
For example; there are people that have many times expressed so much of themselves on social media stories and Whatsapp statuses. Much of the information is so personal that they never have said it in front of their whole contact list in a physical setting. Yet, they are still putting it on their story/status and everyone in their following list/contact list is seeing that.

Internet Is Getting Easier For Introverts

WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature of voice status. I was thinking about it that it has provided a much more convenient way for introverts. Now, if someone just wants to convey something through their voice they can do it without recording video. They can simply put a voice status and they are done with the job.

Just like this, there can be thousands of platforms that allow introverts to be more social in their own way. The Internet actually provides the best ways for introverts to be more social and this explains that introverts are not anti-social they just have different ways of socializing that are not very much understood by society.
